Stieg Larsson and the Current Boom of Scandinavian Crime Fiction - Professor Sara Kӓrrholm from Lund University is a visiting professor at Harvard University on a Fulbright scholarship. She will discuss the state of current Scandinavian Crime Fiction and the recent worldwide “boom” of Scandinavian authors that can, to a large extent, be attributed to the exceptional success of Stieg Larsson’s Millennium Trilogy. Mr. Larsson’s crime fiction has been inspired by some important predecessors who paved the way for his breakthrough onto the international arena. This talk will focus on what can be called a specific “Scandinavian brand” of crime fiction, its historical underpinnings, and its possible future. Mr. Larsson’s influence on contemporary Scandinavian crime fiction will be an integral component of the discussion. |
