Våffeldagen is celebrated on March 25, the feast of Marie Bebådelsedagen, or Annunciation Day. This was the day the Archangel Gabriel announced to the Virgin Mary that she had been chosen to be the mother of Jesus. Swedes have found a great way to celebrate this day – by eating waffles!
