As part of NORDIC STAGE 2018, the Scandinavian American Theater Company (SATC) presents a musical reading on the life of the IKEA founder Ingvar Kamprad at the Studio Theatre.

Ingvar! A Musical Furniture Saga is an original, humorous tribute to the late Ingvar Kamprad (1926-2018) and his ambition “to furnish the homes of ordinary Swedes.”
During another catastrophic afternoon at the Stock Exchange, brokers despair over their many losses and the uncertain future of the capitalist system. In their desperate search for hope in the world and the economic system, they recall the one good exception: IKEA and Mr. Kamprad. With gradually increasing enthusiasm, their collective recollections follow his success story, from impoverished childhood to a globally successful businessman.

The production is free, with a suggested donation of $20, and is followed by a talk-back with playwright/composer Erik Gedeon, musical director Micah Young and director Alicia House.

The Furniture Musical Saga is one of half a dozen productions of NORDIC STAGE 2018: A Festival of New Scandinavian Theater, a collaboration between Scandinavian American Theater Company (SATC) and The Bergman Studio & Dramaten/The Royal Dramatic Theatre in Sweden.

It runs April 6–8 at The Studio Theatre at Theatre Row, 410 West 42nd Street at 9th Ave.
