The Chicago Swedish Mixed Chorus, which was established 80 years ago as the Chicago Swedish Male Chorus, will present its spring concert and commemorate its anniversary on May 6 in the Swedish American Museum.

The concert features old favorites and newer works in both Swedish and English. The performance will celebrate spring, love and heritage.

$10, refreshments included

Female singers were invited last year to become members of the chorus. Since its inception in the late 1930s, the organization has been affiliated with the American Union of Swedish Singers, a 120-year-old organization that was founded at the peak of Swedish immigration. About 500 singers now participate in 24 choruses throughout the United States.
