It is a well-known fact that Finnish migration to Minnesota inspired the cooperative movement, arguably a permanent fixture of Minnesota's social identity. Over time the cooperative movement in Minnesota has influenced key businesses, created social movements, and continues to inspire new projects.
Tom Pierson, of Minnesota Cooperative Education Foundation, presents an informative and engaging look at the history of the cooperative movement in Minnesota.
The evening also includes the special launch of the Metro's latest cooperative project, the 612 Sauna Society, a grassroots initiative that provides access to the health-based and community-building assets of sauna. The founder, John Pederson, will provide tours of the mobile sauna, and present on their ambitious plans.

This program is part of ASI's year-long look at Migration, Identity, and Belonging. Participants will also receive access to the exhibition, The Weather Diaries.
