A Temari ball is a Japanese symbol of perfection. Sometimes called a "mother's love ball," it is a gift given out of joy and happiness. Originating in China over 1,500 years ago, the Temari tradition was popularized in Japan among nobles who used the balls to play games.

Today, the Temari tradition has been adapted to celebrate many different cultures. Vicki Nelson has mastered the art of making Temari balls with a Nordic twist. Vicki recently made 150 Norwegian flag balls as ornaments for the Sons of Norway, where she is a member, but she is highly skilled at producing flag balls for all five Nordic countries. The instructor will supply all materials, but please specify which Nordic flag you would like to make upon registration.

Cost: $18/members, $20/general admission
