Nordic Craft: Felted Runestone Pillows

Did you know that the Vikings were felting more than 1000 years ago?

Discover this ancient technique while felting a pillow cover with a runestone-inspired design, perfect for your modern home or office. We'll use fast felting Scandinavian wools to create our pillows and use pre-felt wool to create the runestone message. Students can choose from a variety of colors of wool and prefelts and will use traditional felting techniques to lay out the wool in thin layers around a pattern, add soapy water and then rub, roll and manipulate the wool into an envelope style pillow cover.

This workshop requires hand strength and some extended standing. Students should expect to leave the class with one finished pillow that will need to dried at home. Students can provide their own pillow insert or may purchase one from the instructor.
