Hello,
My name is Louise and I am 21 years old. I am from the southernmost part of Sweden, Skåne, and I have lived here all my life.
My fascination with the u.s. started when I was very young. I've always liked the country, for reasons that I can't really even put my finger on. Maybe it's the open and friendly Americans, maybe it's the tall buildings. I think it might just be the opportunities that come with being there, the feeling that everything is possible.
My first trip to the u.s., at 19, can be described as almost a religious experience. It made me understand where in the world I belong. People have a hard time understanding my passion and tell me I'm crazy for giving up Swedish education, seeing how it's free here.
Therefore I'm trying to make up for it by finding a way of living that would be considerably lower than that of Sweden. I'm hoping that a kind soul will read this, or pass it on, and that way make my dream a bit more attainable.
I am mainly looking for a place to stay free of charge. Maybe I could be a care-taker/companion for an isolated elderly relative of yours, or maybe teach classes in Swedish a few times a week? It would be a great way to pass on your Swedish heritage to family and friends.
Any help, and I mean any help at all, would be greatly appreciated. Living and studying in the u.s. is my biggest dream. I'm planning on going to Chicago in July/early August. We could make plans to meet and see how things work out. No obligations. If I can't find anything free of charge I will have a back-up place to stay.
Kind regards and thanks for reading!
/ Louise |
