Scandinavian Stories is a one-week afternoon summer camp open to 10-16 year olds with Scandinavian* backgrounds, or other connections to Scandinavia. In five creative workshops, the participants learn how to effectively communicate a message, write and produce their own short film, a (Scandinavian) story. The program provides a creative and fun way for the participants to explore and present their experiences.
The participants will
- gain a better understanding of narrative structure and storytelling
- write a personal story – a script – and make a storyboard
- collect material for their film (photographs, moving images, text, illustrations, audio and music)
- record a voice-over
- edit their own short film through Windows Movie Maker
The program provides one in-class computer per student; audio equipment; a scanner; and some digital cameras.
When: June 28 - July 2 , 1 pm - 4:30 pm
How: in teacher-led workshop classes - healthy snack included
Where: The Houston Street Center, 273 Bowery, New York City
Free/voluntary admission is made possible by a grant from The Barbro Osher Pro Suecia Foundation.
