The fusion of Swedish Glögg and Business

An evening filled with homemade Swedish glögg crowned by the Business Entrepreneurial Award of the year

  • Business Entrepreneurial Award Ceremony: SACC Philadelphia president David Engstrom presenting to Specops' Michael Ubaldini
  • On December 5, the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce-Philadelphia hosted their annual Glögg Business Mixer in Center City Philadelphia at the Racquet Club. It was a delightful evening, filled with old and new faces, homemade glögg and ginger cookies.
This past year, SACC–Philadelphia has expanded its network by collaborating further with existing business partners and also connecting with Wharton Business School. Several Wharton students attended the mixer, mingling with the employees of our member companies, and as a whole the guest list included about 70 names.
For the fourth year in a row, SACC-Philadelphia also presented its annual Business Entrepreneurial Award. It is awarded to a person or company that in a distinguished way has contributed to the promotion of trade and commerce between the Philadelphia region and Sweden. It is often highlighted that the winner has brought Swedish business values into the area, such as sustainability, innovation or a corporate social responsibility. These are all qualities that are highly valued in the Swedish society and things the award is trying to recognize.
This year the award was presented to Specops Software Inc., and with a number of employees present as guests, U.S. president Michael Ubaldini received the award mid-way through the glögg. SACC-Philadelphia’s president David Engstrom presented the award, explaining the award committee’s choice. “Specops Software Inc. was chosen to receive this year’s award for its dedication to technology innovation and promoting Swedish business values in its company culture. We’ve been impressed with the success the company has experienced and the dynamic leadership in place.”
Previous recipients include QlikTech, SCA Americas and SKF USA. The award ceremony has become a tradition that SACC–Philadelphia is happy to continue.
After enjoying several more cups of glögg the guests were able to partake in a Christmas raffle with gifts from companies around the Philadelphia area.
For the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce–Philadelphia, there could not have been a better way to end the year.
