• On April 16, the Swedish American Chamber of Commerce in New York (SACC-New York) hosted a fascinating career development seminar — Climbing the Corporate Ladder — at Deloitte's modern midtown offices at 30 Rockefeller Plaza. The diverse group of panelists, all experts in their fields, featured Vivian James Rigney, president and executive coach, Inside Us; Shara Alter, metro manager, Manpower; Caroline Grane, senior vice president and managing director, Nest Seekers International; and Margaret Billy Quandt, human resources director, Skanska USA Inc. During the lively panel discussion, moderated by Tom Smith, advisory director, Deloitte, the group discussed a variety of techniques, principles and tactics for building lasting career success. Among the topics they addressed were marketing and self-promotion, the importance of strategic thinking when it comes to landing a dream job and how to enhance one's professional effectiveness.
