Cecilia Lotse at the Swedish Church

U.S.-based, Sweden native Cecilia Lotse's watercolor exhibit opens at 4 p.m. October 1.

  U.S.-based, Uppsala, Sweden native Cecilia Lotse's watercolors will be showing at the 5 East 48th Street church in October; opening 4 p.m. Oct. 1 www.svenskakyrkan.se/newyork
  The Swedish native moved to the U.S. in 1966. After a long and distinguished career at the UN, primarily with UNICEF, Lotse started painting. Here is what she says about her work:
  "I am mostly interested in painting with watercolors; the combination of water and pigments affect the creative process in such an exciting way. After a career with an analytical focus, art allows me to concentrate on impressions and the moments when the visual becomes emotionally charged for me. It could be nature's incredible beauty, or the interaction between man and nature.”
  Cecilia Lotse’s artistic development has been driven by a number of courses with different artists, both privately and through New York University, the National Academy of Art, and especially the Art Student's League in Manhattan.
  The artist voices a special thanks to Maureen Wilkinson in Guilford, Connecticut, for initiating her into all sorts of techniques and treatments in watercolor painting, to Meera Thompson at NYU for a strong appreciation of the art of drawing, and Paul Ching Bor at the Art Student League for sensitive leadership, superb artistic stimulation and challenge, and a deep sense of excitement and adventure with regard to challenging the technique of watercolor painting
