Where are the descendants of Bror and Hjalmar Johnsson?

  • Where are the descendants of Bror and Hjalmar Johnsson? The Johnsson family in a photograph of around 1910. L-R, Back row: Ester Amalia with the parents Jonas Edvard and Katarina Maria; Front: Hjalmar Otto, Dagmar Elisabeth, Bror Reinhold and Greta Maria Sofia.
  • Where are the descendants of Bror and Hjalmar Johnsson?
This family photograph, right, sent by the Swedish descendants of Ester to the French descendants of Ragnar, made us want to revive a search for American cousins. In the photo, taken around 1910, we are able to see the faces of Hjalmar Otto and Bror Reinhold for the first time.

  • Ragnar Johnsson (1893-1970), oldest of the Johnsson brothers, who married a French woman.
  • It is, however, very difficult to find Swedish descendants in the United States! Names were often changed at Ellis Island. And we had no idea in which state we had to start looking for our family...
The idea was to use Facebook to create a page with a very explicit title: Where are the descendants of Bror and Hjalmar Johnsson?
    Then wait.

  • Edvard Ragnar Johnsson and Katarina Maria Johansson married in Malmö in 1892. They had six children, Ragnar (born in 1893), Ester (born 1895) Bror, Hjalmar, Dagmar and Greta (born in 1906). The three boys went abroad, Hjalmar and Bror to the United States and Ragnar, the oldest one and my grandfather, married a French woman.
Any information on where the brothers Bror and Hjalmar went and where their descendants would be is appreciated.
