Marcus’ Easter with the Obamas
Who celebrated Easter with Barack Obama and his family? None other than Swedish star chef Marcus Samuelsson.
It was the traditional Easter Egg Roll at the White House, and apart from the President and his family, there were 35,000 guests. Now Marcus didn’t have to cook for all of them, but he was one of the specially invited chefs for the occasion.

“It was so much fun, and everything took place outside,” Marcus said to Swedish evening paper Expressen. “We made food from the southwestern part of the US, with vegetable tacos.”
First Lady Michelle Obama is engaged in trying to get American children to eat healthier, and at the celebrations there were several food stations where Marcus taught many of the invited children, as well as the First Lady herself, how to make vegetables taste good.
“It was great to come back and see how Obama’s daughters had grown. Even Michelle’s mother was there. She was just like a regular grandmother with the children,” Marcus added. As most of you already know, this wasn’t his first invitation to the White House, Marcus had the honor of cooking the food for the Obama’s first state banquet in 2010. When asked if it makes him nervous to come to the White House, he said: “Everything is so huge. There’s a lot of security, so it’s important to stay calm. But I have a bit of experience in my background.”
