A taste of Gothenburg in Chicago

Chicago Sister Cities offers an opportunity to try Swedish cuisine at its best through visiting chef Hakan Thoernstrom on Sept. 10.

  • The Gothenburg Committee of Chicago Sister Cities International, in partnership with Kendall College, the City of Gothenburg and the Gothenburg Restaurant Association present Taste of Chicago Sister Cities: Gothenburg on Monday, September 10, 2012 from 6–9 p.m. at Kendall College, 900 N. North Branch Street. A wine reception will take place from 6–7 p.m., followed by the sit-down dinner. Tickets to the event are $100 and are available for purchase at Chicago Sister Cities

  • Chef Håkan Thörnström
  • Chef Håkan Thörnström of Thörnströms Kök in Gothenburg, a Michelin-starred restaurant and 2011 Restaurant of the Year award winner, will prepare the five-course feast. Thörnström will create the meal in collaboration with chef instructors and students from Kendall College, providing an educational experience while astounding diners’ taste buds. The next day, the Chef will also present a cooking demo/lecture for Kendall students, teaching them about Swedish cooking and his culinary techniques.

  • Anneli Hulthén, Mayor of Gothenburg, will be the guest of honor accompanied by, among others Bengt Linde, Chairman of the Gothenburg Restaurant Association.
