Danes living in Sweden are returning home, as Sweden has become more expensive while the cost of living in Denmark is falling.
Danes used to enjoy the undervalued Swedish krona, which used to give them lots of discounts when they exchanged their own Danish kroner. As such they could buy the best quality in Sweden for almost nothing compared to similar product in Denmark. For the first time since the Öresund Bridge connecting Sweden and Denmark was opened in 2000, more people are now moving from Skåne, in southern Sweden to eastern Denmark than in the opposite direction. Last year, 3000 people moved to eastern Denmark against only 2700 in the opposite direction, that is, to Sweden.
