Environmental groups in both Denmark and Sweden want better protection for the strait between the two countries.

The majority of the municipalities in both countries are keen to the idea, and it is now up to the governments to think over the proposal. ”The thought is to preserve the sound long-term. We need mutual regulations in how we handle this,” says Peter Göransson, chairman of the organization Öresundsfonden, who took the initiative.
