Bastards of Strindberg
How do today’s playwrights relate to their important predecessor August Strindberg? Four commissioned short plays by Swedish and American playwrights in Victor Borge Hall at Scandinavia House. 2012 marks the 100th anniversary of Strindberg’s death. To commemorate the jubilee, Scandinavian American Theater Company commissioned a diverse group of the most exciting American and Scandinavian playwrights to write short plays in response to Strindberg’s iconic Miss Julie/Fröken Julie (1888). The Playwrights are
 David Bar Katz, Dominique Morriseau (USA), and Andreas Boonstra and Lina Ekdahl from Sweden. Join SATC for this special presentation of these brand new 15-20 minute plays and a panel discussion about Strindberg’s influence on today’s working playwrights.

Concert: Tribute to Ellis Island
On Nov. 11 the Chicago Swedish Glee Club and the Bjornson Male Chorus offer a joint concert; a tribute to Ellis Island and all of those who immigrated to America. Bergman’s 'A Spritual Matter'
