Crown Princess Victoria turned 34 years old on July 14, as usual celebrated at the Solliden Palace on Öland.
As usual she was celebrating at the Solliden Palace on Öland, which unfortunately has been rainy all day. Hundreds, if not thousands, of people lined up for hours in raincoats and armed with umbrellas waiting for the birthday girl to appear.
In the meantime, the royal court handed out warm “nyponsoppa” (rose hip soup) to the well-wishers.
“It warms my heart that you’ve showed up in spite of the weather,” Victoria said, when she finally appeared with Daniel at around 2 pm. Mamma Silvia and Pappa King Carl XVI Gustaf were also there, and the family joined in four cheers for Victoria, who wore a navy blue dress, a pale pink cardigan and high Yves Saint Laurent heels. Both she and Daniel shook hands with the people, received flowers, drawings, presents and hugs.
“I’m so happy,” the Crown Princess said repeatedly. "It's been an amazing day. A wonderful birthday in spite of the rain."
