Sweden’s best dressed
Timbuktu and Alicia Vikander – these are the two best dressed Swedes 2011, crowned at the annual Elle gala. Call it fashion or style, that’s always up for discussion, but clearly Timbuktu, or Jason Diakité as is his name, has created his very own expression clothes wise. Easy and relaxed yet dressed with a certain kind of nonchalant elegance. Still, the Lund-born rapper and reggae artist was surprised to be named best-dressed Swedish man.

“I hadn’t expected this at all. Oftentimes I just wear jeans and a sweater, sometimes a suit. It’s important to be comfortable,” he said. Actress Alicia Vikander, best-dressed Swedish woman, was called “a Swedish fashion ambassador”.
“Normally I just wear sweatpants and cardigans, since I change clothes so much for work. But it’s fun to get parts with costumes that one doesn’t feel all at home in,” she said. So what particular styles do these two stars bring to the table? Timbuktu is known for wearing hats, especially Panama hats.
“I like hats! Right now I’m into fake fur hats. I like fine details, I often wear rosaries as necklaces.” Alicia Vikander explains her style: “It’s fairly classic, but I like to add different materials or break off with heavy jewelry. When it’s time to dress up, I like to be a bit wild, it’s fun to go all the way!”
