Swedish Royals with the people's confidence

No surprises when SIFO recently published a survey on Swedes' faith in their royalty.

  • Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, married June 2010, are the royals that instill the most confidence in the Swedish people.
  • Hail to H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria but Princess Madeleine inspires less faith among Swedes. Princess Madeleine is at the bottom of the list of royals for whom Swedes have confidence. According to a survey by Sifo, published in daily Aftonbladet, Princess Madeleine gets an average of 2.8 (with 5 being the highest). The survey is based on telephone interviews with 1,000 Swedes.

  • The royal most Swedes have confidence in is Crown Princess Victoria (she receives a 4.2 average), followed by her husband Prince Daniel (3.6), Queen Silvia (3.5), the King 3.3), and Prince Carl Philip (3.0). 2013 is a special year for the Swedish King: On September 15, he celebrates 40 years on the throne. But according to the Aftonbladet/Sifo survey, a majority of the Swedes (60%) think he ought to abdicate and let Victoria take over. Of course, that’s what Holland’s Queen Beatrix recently announced that she would do: She is ending her reign after 33 years and passing the crown on to her eldest son.
