Comedian Petra Mede hosts Eurovision 2013

• Comedian Petra Mede has been chosen to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2013, which will take place in Malmö (as Sweden won last year with Loreen and her song “Euphoria”.

• Over 100 million viewers will turn on their TV to see Petra in May (the 14, 16, and 18th).

• “It’ll be a challenge to put some kind of personal touch on this,” Mede says. “My role models are strong women, especially Lill Lindfors (a singer who competed in the event in 1966 with Svante Thuresson and “Nygammal Vals”, and took second place and who also presented the even in 1985, and famously suffered a planned wardrobe malfunction). Petra Mede comes from Partille, outside of Göteborg, and she was voted best female comedian in 2009.
