Ceremonious pomp for Princess' baby

H.R.H. Princess Madeleine will give birth to her child in New York but gun salutes and fanfares will sound all over Sweden (..in New York? Maybe not so much).

  • Ceremonious pomp for Princess Madeleine’s baby. A 21-gun salute will be fired in Stockholm when Princess Madeleine’s baby is born, sometime in the next few weeks. This according to the Swedish royal palace.
Princess Madeleine and her husband Chris O’Neill have decided to have their baby in New York, where they reside, but the royal birth will still be marked with some fanfare in Sweden, not only in Stockholm but also in places such as Boden, Härnösand, Karlskrona and Göteborg.

  • Meanwhile, the baby’s birth will also be announced on the royal household’s Facebook page and website. King Carl XVI Gustaf will announce the baby’s name and titles in a meeting of the Cabinet, as he did when Princess Estelle, Crown Princess Victoria’s daughter, was born in 2012. The royal family is also expected to hold a ”Te Deum” service as a thanks to the safe delivery of Madeleine’s baby, this will be held in the Royal Chapel. The last time a service like that was held was to mark the 40th anniversary of the King’s accession to the throne. It seems, from the looks of the baby registry, that Madeleine and her husband are expecting a baby girl.

  • Will she become a princess? Whether H.R.H. Princess Madeleine's baby will become a Princess has become a matter of discussion in Sweden.
