Sweden has had three Miss Universes in the pageant, which is taking place tonight, December 19, at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. Current Miss Universe, Leila Lopes from Angola, will crown her successor.
The last time Sweden won was in 1984, when Yvonne Ryding from Eskilstuna, a then nurse, was voted MIss Universe. She was the third Swede to win the title (earlier winners are Hillevi Rombin in 1955 and Margareta Arvidsson in 1966 – Anita Ekberg competed in 1951 but was never a finalist).
So what’s Yvonne Ryding doing today? Well, she was filmed recently by a TV-team from South Korea, as her skin care line bearing her name, is now being launched in that country.
“They are fascinated with me being both a mother and an entrepreneur,” says Ryding and adds that her beauty line focuses on natural beauty, and that it is based on vegetable oils. Yvonne’s products are sold in Sweden, Finland, Germany, Holland, and now, from next year, also in South Korea.
