The U.S. likes Zara Larsson, and the feelings are mutual. After reporting in March on her No. 2 rank on Billboard’s digital dance list, the Swedish singer joins just three other female artists — Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande — as she hits the number one spot on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart this week (April 16) with British artist MNEK in "Never Forget You."
Larsson, who is just 18 years old, is Sweden's latest international music icon. Born in Stockholm, Larsson had her first breakthrough at age 10 on a Swedish talent show. She’s been in the U.S. this month, recently appearing on popular talk shows such as Ellen and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
Her edgy electro pop music made the Swede popular in England, advancing her entry in the American market; in 2013 she signed a three-year contract with Epic Records in the United States and recently began a collaboration with Clinique for their Play With Pop campaign.
"Never Forget You" (featuring MNEK) also hit the Top Ten in Great Britain.
