    1983: Swedish 16-year old singing sensation Carola Häggkvist comes in third with the song “Främling” at the Eurovision Song Contest in Munich, Germany. Corinne Hermès from Luxembourg won with “Si la vie est Cadeau”. Häggkvist later went on to become one of Sweden’s foremost singers, and won the actual Eurovision Song Contest in 1991 with the song “Fångad av en stormvind”.

  • Carola Häggkvist sang “Främling” at Melodifestivalen once again - at the Swedish finals in March, 2013. “Främling” was Carola’s breakthrough hit in 1983.
