Stockholm, 6th best in the world!

• Stockholm is the sixth best city in the world to live and work in. Best is Hong Kong, followed by Amsterdam and Osaka, Paris, Sydney.

• Worst? Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe. The list with the world’s best (and worst) cities has been produced by The Economist Intelligence Unit, an analyst business connected to the same group that publishes The Economist.

• Several different criteria were used in making the compilation: population density, air quality, green space, how the city is built from a point of view of “natural resources” (this was done by studying satellite pictures via Google Earth), the number of Unesco World Heritage sites nearby, connectivity to other big cities, as well as the number of flights to and from the city in question.

• The Economist Intelligence Unit has published city rankings for many years. As with any city ranking there is always a debate about which factors make a city most liveable, and this time the criteria were refined.
