The overweight Swede

The so often exercising Swede is also gaining weight.. 

  • The average Swede is getting heavier and heavier, and today 49 percent of people in Sweden are considered fat.
  • Since the end of the 1980s, the average Swede has gained close to 5 kilos (11 pounds). According to Metro, 49 percent of the Swedish population is considered overweight or fat. Dalarna is among the top counties with heavy inhabitants, where 56 percent of the population is overweight or fat. Stockholm has the lowest number of overweight or fat people, with 44 percent. Metro has compiled statistics from among other places, Statens folkhälsoinstitut (the Swedish National Institute of Public Health).
