A Swedish journalist is the victim in what’s being called the most spectacular murder case in Danish history.
Kim Wall, 30, from southern Sweden, studied in England and at Columbia University in New York and wrote articles on foreign affairs and human interest all over the world. She was interviewing Danish inventor Peter Madsen in the submarine he had designed. They left in the submarine on Aug. 10, and Madsen reported he had dropped her off later that night in the port of Copenhagen. On Aug. 11 Wall’s boyfriend reported her missing; Madsen then told investigators there was an accident on the submarine, which sank, and had caused Wall’s death, so he buried her at sea. On Aug. 23, Copenhagen police announced DNA tests proved a torso found in local waters was Wall. Madsen, 46, is being held on preliminary charges of involuntary manslaughter.
