More business than pleasure

More than half of interviewed Swedes stated they work during their time off.  

  • Stressed at work? It’s not a joke—in Sweden, 200 people die every year due to stressful jobs. All the more reason for a stress-free vacation.
  • Swedes, who often get three or more weeks of vacation in the summer, aren’t particularly good at leaving work behind when they’re away from the office. In a new study of 1300 men and women between the ages of 18 and 74, more than half the workers interviewed stated they work during their time off. Even more people are distracted by thoughts of work during vacation. Eight out of 10 Swedes think about it, even worry about it. Forty-four percent of women and 60 percent of the men say they think about work while they’re supposed to be relaxing, according to the report by YouGov.
