  • A Man Called Ove earned two Oscar nominations — for Best Foreign Language Film as well as for Best Makeup and Hairstyling. Also, Swedish cinematographer Linus Sandgren was nominated for his work on La La Land, and songwriters and producers Max Martin and Shellback (Karl Johan Schuster) were nominated for their original song in collaboration with Justin Timberlake, "Can’t Stop the Feeling” in Trolls.
Sweden has had 15 nominations for Best Foreign Language film before and has left with the statuette four times, the last time in 1988 for director Bille August’s Danish-Swedish film Pelle the Conqueror (Pelle Erövraren).
Nordstjernan met up with A Man Called Ove's director Hannes Holm and actors Bahar Pars and Rolf Lassgård while they were in New York last year, just before the movie was declared Best European Comedy at EFA, the European Oscars, in 2016.
