Nothing beats a good burger and it’s often one of the first things we reach for when arriving in a new city, claims Big 7 Media, which just published the list. A London based restaurant placed first, followed by the Danish Gasoline Grill (www.gasolinegrill.com), a venue in the Czech Republic, one in Hungary, and another in London ahead of the Stockholm eatery, www.barrels.se, which offers two locations, one in Stockholm’s Old Town (Gamla Stan) and another just behind NK Department store in the city. Eager to try their burger on your next visit? Don’t waste time calling beforehand, table reservations are not accepted.
The 50 finalists for the list of 50 Best Burgers in Europe were selected from the countries of the European Union. Votes were cast in a poll of Big 7 readers, across its 1.5 million followers on social media and by a panel of food experts. The initial online votes, reviews, previous media coverage and notable blogs were also included in the overall rating. Big 7s online content is focused on travel, food and hotels for a mobile-first, millennial audience. For more info, see www.bigseventravel.com

  • Strangely, when it comes to coffee houses, Sweden gets beaten by all its Nordic neighbors in a similar test. Drop Coffee Roasters (www.dropcoffee.com) with a café at Mariatorget in Stockholm’s Södermalm district, lands the country’s only spot in 45th place but with venues in Denmark, Finland and Norway seemingly way ahead in the offering of good coffee. Our take: Good coffee is just everywhere in Sweden, people always pick their own local favorite and finding one single supplier that stands out is not in the cards.
