Grocery offers car charging

Taking your Tesla to Sweden? One of Sweden's largest grocery chains has started installing electric charge outlets for people with electric automobile motors.

  • Charging outlets for electric cars, soon a common sight everywhere?
  • The Swedish grocery chain, ICA, has inaugurated a widespread installation of charging outlets for electric cars that will be offered to shoppers who are parked in their lots. Within five years, the giant food chain hopes to have charging outlets at some 20 stores.

After a year of planning, the project was launched in mid-June when the first electric automobile charging setup debuted in Östersund. Two more stores are planned to be ready for car charging this year in Gothenburg and Västerås. Customers can activate the charging inside after they have entered the stores.

  • "We are convinced that electric cars will be increasingly present in the future, and we are excited to meet the growing demand," said Bo Liffner, President of ICA's properties division.
