An early Christmas present for frequent flyers: Expect wireless Internet to be installed on SAS airplanes starting this December. A GSM-solution for mobile phones is also in the plans, but most probably not until next year. Skype and Viber (free phone calls and text, platform to platform) already work on SAS flights. Surfing onboard SAS with a smartphone or a computer will be free to start with, but whether or not it will remain so is yet unclear. The first passengers to be able to try these services; will be those who fly SAS from Oslo, according to Norwegian daily Aftenposten.
