HM teams up with Marni

The spring 2012 fashion collaboration for the Swedish owned retailer is bound to be both off-beat, funky and feminine.

  • The Italian fashion label Marni, founded by Consuelo Castiglioni in 1994, will be H&M’s next collaborator. Marni can be described with words like quirky, feminine, off-beat, and funky.
  • So perhaps the Versace-H&M collaboration wasn’t that exciting for everyone, but this looks like it will be a big hit: H&M is teaming up with Italian fashion label Marni for a spring collection. What that might entail? Bold colors, asymmetrical cuts, and mixed prints.

  • "I wanted to create a true Marni wardrobe by revisiting all our favorite pieces in signature fabrics and prints. As always, I love juxtaposing prints and colors, mixing modern tribal with Bauhaus graphic and adding sporty utilitarian elements," said Marni founder and creative director Consuelo Castiglioni in a media release. Expect full pleated skirts, dresses, cropped pants in silk and cotton poplin as well as a range of jewelry. There will also be clothes and accessories for men. The Marni collection for H&M will hit stores on March 8.

  • Castiglioni was ranked in Fact Company's 2010 “100 most creative people in business”. Her designs are worn by U.S. well known celebrities such as Cindy Sherman, Kyra Sedgwick and Gwyneth Paltrow.
The style of Marni was described by Vogue as "European-inflected bohemianism."'
