Sweden brings home gold

The Olympics are always chock full of amazing, newsworthy and memorable moments, and the 2018 Winter Games were no exception. There were nearly 3,000 athletes from 92 countries doing their best in sports they love. Here are the final results from Sweden. 

  • Sweden is celebrating the 14 medals – 7 gold, 6 silver and 1 bronze – and all their athletes who were in the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea. (Norway took home 39 medals, breaking the United States' record of 37 in 2010; this year the U.S. got 23 medals. The host country won 17.)

  • Charlotte Kalla won the first gold medal of the games for her cross-country ski sprint and a silver medal in the 10K women’s cross-country skiing event. Stina Nilsson won gold in the 1.5 km sprint and a bronze medal in the 30 km. The women’s cross-country team took silver in the sprint and 4x5 km relay. The women’s curling team took gold; the men’s curling team took silver.

  • In the biathlon, Sweden’s men’s team took gold in the relay, and Sebastian Samuelsson took silver in the men’s biathlon pursuit; the women’s team took silver in the relay and Hanna Oberg won the gold medal in the women’s 15km biathlon. Both the alpine slalom events were won by Swedes: Andre Myrer and Frida Hansdotter won gold medals in their categories.
