New Tide Orquesta on tour in the U.S.

Swedish musicians bring their genre-surpassing sound and style to the Atlantic coast with a mix of modern chamber music, minimalism, improvisation, and hints of new tango.

  • New Tide Orquesta brings a new energy to chamber music through their mix of Baroque, jazz, folk and still (a hint of new tango, with an intense dynamic).

  • Formerly known as New Tango Orquestra, their unique sound and style was formed in the late 1990s in Gothenburg, Sweden when some friends of Per Störby Jutbring gathered to try out his new work. The five musicians of NTO all have established solo careers as well; they are Livet Nord – violin, Josef Kallerdahl – double bass, Johanna Dahl – cello, Thomas Gustavsson – piano, and Per Störby – bandoneon.

  • NTO released their debut album in 1998 and have since then toured all over the world and released eight albums, which have won them numerous awards. Their music has been used in several movies and theatrical productions, dance performances and art installations.

  • In 2016 they released two albums which were celebrated with some high profile concerts in Sweden and a collaboration with the Brooklyn-based company Sidra Bell Dance. Together with Sidra Bell Dance, New Tide Orquesta performed their world premier of Mönster Outside in New Orleans in November 2017 and are now touring in the U.S., Canada and Sweden during 2018.
