Lollipops will calm the young

Sugar makes you nicer, did you know that? It’s only a hypothesis, but it’s one that the municipality of Karlstad fully believes in.

  Have a lollipop and stay calm? At least if you’re in Karlstad for the summer.

• In order to create calmer weekend nights, 10 000 lollipops will be given away to young people during the summer months. A similar project was carried out last winter, but with onion rings and potato chips. New Year's Eve became quite uneventful and, according to the local organizers, mostly thanks to the snacks and the presence of the people handing them out.

• “People are happy to see us there, they think it’s nice to talk to someone and to get something to snack on,” a city representative told the local paper. No comment as to what onion rings do to people.
