Skolverket (the Swedish National Agency for Education) is creating a security system, which will prevent new teacher IDs from being falsified. The new ID won’t be a plastic card neither will it come with watermarks, instead it will be of a “perishable” nature, a living document with updated information about the teacher. A teacher looking for a new job will be able to print out the document, which will show what subject he teaches, and what grades, from a register. Though it will be printed on a regular printer, it will come with a special Internet code, which the employer can use to check the authenticity of the document. “If a teacher has received a warning or if his teacher’s ID has been suspended, that will show through this register,” says Tommy Lagergren, Manager of the Department of Development at Skolverket.
