The heavyweight champion of the world to be, Ingemar 'Ingo' Johansson becomes the Swedish junior heavy weight champion. 

  • On January 2, 1950, the 17-year-old Ingemar Johansson takes the title of heavy weight champion in junior-SM in boxing. Ingemar “Ingo” Johansson (1932-2009) was the fifth heavyweight champion born outside the United States.

Two years later he competes in the Olympic Games in Helsinki, wins a silver medal and begins his career as a professional boxer later the same year, in December 1952.
