Three seasons at once

..wonderful of course if you're in the right part of Sweden.

  • Is it winter or is it spring? Or maybe even summer? Sweden right now offers three different seasons, depending on where in the country you are.
  • Three seasons at once
Sweden right now offers three seasons at the same time: Winter in the mountains in the north or Norrland, summer in southern Sweden and in between those areas springtime. According to SMHI (Sveriges Meteorologiska och Hydrologiska Institut or Sweden's Meteorological and Hydrological Institute), that means three seasons at once. Though perhaps people in general wouldn’t necessarily concur with the idea, according to meteorologists, spring has arrived after February 15 if the temperature has been above zero for seven consecutive days. If on the eighth day it’s below freezing again and a blizzard takes place, spring has still officially sprung. For meteorologists to label a season “summer”, the daily temperatures must be above ten degrees Celsius (50 F) for five days in a row.
