More electric cars from Volvo

After a slow start in many parts of the world plug-in electric cars are gaining momentum.

  • Sweden is charging forward with a search for more precious minerals such as cobalt and lithium, key battery components among makers of electric vehicles. According to some surveys the interest in electric and plug-in hybrid cars is now on par with that of pickup trucks. Here, the new Volvo XC90 T8 is "filled up."
  • By 2025, Håkan Samuelsson, CEO of Volvo Cars, says the company will have rolled out one million electric cars. Volvo hopes to produce two hybrid versions of each model in the Volvo lineup to meet consumer demand for electric vehicles. The first all-electric car is expected to appear in 2019. The new releases of popular models such as the Volvo V60, the new XC60, V90, S90 and XC90 all include hybrid options. For a look at what's available now, see www.volvocars.com/us
